CPET Tray Production

Crystalline Polyethylene Terephthalate, abbreviated as CPET, is an alternative to aluminum food trays. CPET is used primarily for ready meals. As a result of the partially crystalline structure achieved in a second conditioning step after thermoforming, CPET retains its shape at high temperatures and is therefore suitable for use with foodstuffs that are to be heated in conventional ovens and microwave ovens.
Standard for almost all CPET products is an IPA modified PET top layer, which has particularly good sealing properties and gives the products a glossy surface.
CPET trays can be used within a temperature range of –40°C to +220°C. This meets the needs of consumers, who require good impact resistance at low temperatures and shape retention at high temperatures. CPET also forms a highly effective barrier against oxygen, water, carbon dioxide and nitrogen.

Heat-seal Layers on Packaging Films

We offer wide range of heat seal solutions covering rigid PET film and sheet, blown film and biaxially oriented film. This covers G/A/G constructions, PE replacement in PET/PE form-fill-seal, heat sealable blown films and extrusion of heat seal layer in BOPET. G/A/G film and sheet: coextruded outer PETG layers – typically at 10% of total thickness either side – make G/A/G construction very easy to heat seal when it comes to non-food blister packaging. PETG can be heat-sealed at low temperature and high frequency at short intervals. End use covers:
  • Card blister
  • Heat sealing blister
  • High-frequency blister
  • Half-fold blister
  • Three-fold blister
PE replacement in PET/PE bottom web: FutOrganic offers solutions to replace the PE layer in PET/PE laminated or coextruded structures when used as bottom web in FFS packaging. Special Copolyester provide similar sealing performance as PE yet allowing the form-fill-seal trays to be fully recyclable. Such coextruded and thermoformed trays process at similar speed and temperature range as Polyethylene and therefore have no disadvantage when it comes to economics. Heat sealable blown film: we offer special Copolyester for the heat seal layer in coextruded PE blown film used as lidding film for mono PET trays. This way, mono-material PET trays can be sealed in a similar way to PET/PE trays. The use of such lidding film contributes to a more sustainable handling of packaging material since the bottom tray is fully recyclable, carrying the recycling identification code RIC#1 when sorting and recycling infrastructure is in place (e.g. tray-to-tray initiative). Mono PET trays in combination with PE lidding films can be found in a variety of food packaging areas:
  • Meat and processed meat such as sausages
  • Cheese and dairy products
  • Fish and seafood
  • Poultry
  • Vegetarian and Vegan foodstuff
  • Cereals, nuts and dried fruit
  • Bread and baked goods
  • Pet Food
Standard BOPET – biaxially oriented PET packaging films – are not heat sealable. Applying a coextrusion process and using the right Copolyester, BOPET films can be made heat sealable. Such films seal to itself and to other PET films and packaging articles. FutOrganic offers highly modified PET resins for the BOPET industry. Films are usually only side sealable, food contact approved, typically clear or white – here the end-use:
  • Lidding films for dairy containers
  • Food packaging

Usually, blood collection tubes are assembled with a butyl rubber stopper and a polyethylene cap.
All types, such as no additive tubes, anticoagulation tubes and coagulation tubes are made of the very same PET base resin.

3D Printing Filaments

We serve the monofilament extrusion market with PETG for 3D printing. PETG is known to be an exceptionally strong material, and this makes it ideal for those objects that will be subjected to mechanical stress. It is hard, flexible and resistant, much of which can be put down to the way it adheres to each layer. The filament offers the same level of functionality as ABS, which is temperature resistance and strength, but it also has the same level of reliability as PLA. As a result, 3D printing with PETG is relatively easy. There is no odor with PETG, and this is one of the characteristics that makes it ideal for domestic use. 3D printing with PETG has a low level of shrinkage. It ensures that the original measurements remain the same, making it perfect for large 3D prints. The filament has a low level of deterioration when it comes to absorption. PETG does not absorb water and that ensures it remains strong. The material is extremely resistant to chemical agents, making PETG perfect for use in the medical profession. This also means that it can be sterilized easily. PETG can be recycled, including prints and misprints, making PETG a material that is better for the environment. This makes it possible to adhere to the many different regulations that are in place for recycling. Applications:
  • Since PETG is easy to use this is the ideal polymer to get started, schools and universities use PETG as a first step in the 3D printing world
  • Food grade PETG safe to use for bottles, cups, plates and kitchen utensils
  • Mechanical components
  • Planters
  • Parts for remote controlled toys
